January 2021 saw HART Yorkshire receive a welcome funding pot direct from The National Lottery Community Fund to help our organisation build our resilience in a time of Covid.
This funding has enabled us to upgrade our website, increase our social media presence and buy the company much needed computer hardware. Even better, we have been enjoying some hilarious Zoom training workshops online (did you know that Zoom can actually make you look younger? We are still trying to work out how to make ourselves look like cartoon cats)!
Why do we need this funding? We are developing our “Craft Connections” project to deliver more of our creative wellbeing art workshops throughout West Yorkshire. We teach traditional art and craft with a modern feel and our aim is to bring joy and creativity directly into the homes of others at a time when social interaction and support is more needed than ever. By providing opportunities for crafting in the home, online or in small workshops, we are striving to create pockets of activity that will brighten the day for the participants – activities that can be shared with others and skills that can be passed on. Our workshops are designed to encourage social interaction as well as the intrinsic and absorbing pleasure of making.
So watch this space (or follow us on Facebook and Instagram) to see more of our creative events and projects. We want to help others celebrate the work of our hands and improve our mental wellbeing.
